About Me.

Marine & Freshwater is covering over 70% of our planet, but only 0.6% of the world oceans are

actually protected. Humans are damaging the world’s fragile marine ecosystems and the

species. Animals that are living freely are being torn from their natural habitat, due to the

amount of waste and pollution that enters the ocean. As a society, we are destroying habitats

with our personal waste and being careless with how we dispose of it so I believe that’s humans

have a responsibility to change their behaviours to make a difference, and save the marine

wildlife. I have volunteered in a beach clean which highlighted to me how much rubbish was

collected and how much wildlife is affected by this. Since swimming with dolphins in America,

I have wanted to pursue a career in marine studies including photography and wildlife media.

I can use my skills in photography to capture these species in the natural habitat and how they

live to influence human behaviours. This course will give me a clearer understanding of the

animal kingdom and the conservation work that is needed to protect animals in their natural

environment.

Photography is an art of observation. It’s about me finding something interesting in an ordinary place that others don’t. This is all about my vision and how I see it through the lens. It’s the vision and imagination that I have which changes an ordinary scene into art. Photographing animals requires patience, perseverance and an understanding of animal behaviour so that you can achieve the greatest images. This is where I feel comfortable.  When I take my pictures, I like to focus on the depth and perspective of the images. During my recent projects, I focused on the lighting and the contrast. This then helped me use my skills on Photoshop to produce my own images. I also photograph landscapes and have taken many pictures in the open Lake District area. I like to photograph animals in the natural habitats.

Therefore, after leaving College and going to university I wanted to carry on into my future career and use my skills of photography and filming and my passion for marine animals and become a wildlife photographer. I now study Wildlife Media at the University of Cumbria, learning new skills and understanding the usage of enhanced technology in them environments to also studying the animal behaviour of many species. Once graduated from University with a better understanding in the Wildlife media industry, I’m then wanting to become a underwater conservationist using my photography and filming to help raise and awareness and to address to the audience the beautiful habitat for many marine animals. As I have also studied animal behaviour I will have a better understanding of many species, and the conservation help that is need towards many more
